WASHINGTON – Georgetown softball fell to Villanova 8-2 on Saturday afternoon in the three-game series between the two teams. Georgetown now sits 12-18 overall, 2-6 in the BIG EAST, and Villanova at 18-19 overall and 6-4 in conference play.
How It Happened
- Villanova scored the first five runs of the game from a duo of doubles, a single, and two homers to make it 5-0 to the Wildcats heading into the third.
- In the third Georgetown's Abby Smith lined a ball to right center bringing Alyysa Chavez home to lessen Nova's lead 5-1.
- The Wildcats added another two runs in the fourth with doubled to left field and two runners crossed home (7-1).
- Georgetown was not done yet as Savannah Jones drove a ball to left center in the fifth which Mae Forshey capitalized on to get across the plate (7-2).
- Villanova finished out the scoring in the fifth with a double to left and a runner rounded home (8-2).
Of Note
- The Hoyas tabbed six hits in the game to the Wildcats' 10.
- Georgetown's pitcher Kayla Dunn tabbed four strikeouts from the circle.
