WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University baseball team went to extras for the second-straight game, falling to VCU 4-3 in 12 innings on Tuesday. The Hoyas dropped to 29-22 overall while the Rams jumped to 33-18 on the season.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Ubaldo Lopez went 2-for-5 at the dish with an RBI and a run scored.
- Jake Hyde recorded a RBI double and a tally against the Rams.
- Owen Carapellotti also recorded a single and an RBI on Tuesday.
- Michael Eze put forth a 2-for-3 game at the dish with a pair of infield hits.
- DeRoche, Head, Salley, Willis and Andrew Williams dominated out of the pen, combining to allow no runs on five hits through eight innings of relief.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hoyas jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening frame on RBI singles by Lopez and Carapellotti.
- VCU responded and took the lead on one swing of the bat with a three-run homer in the first.
- A pitching duel ensued through the fifth with both squads putting runners on base and in scoring position but being held off the board.
- In the top of the sixth, Georgetown broke the scoreless drought with an RBI single from Hyde, bringing Ciufo around to score (3-3).
- Williams and Willis each tossed a blank frame in the seventh and eighth respectively, surrendering no hits over that span.
- Head worked himself out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth and sent the game to extras, where he continued to topple the Rams in the 10th and 11th innings.
- VCU walked off in the 12th on an RBI groundout, knocking off the Hoyas 4-3.
OF NOTE
- GU played back-to-back extra-inning affairs for the first time since April 6-7, 2018 against Xavier.
- It was the longest extra-inning game since April 22, 2016 against Butler (13 inn.).
