Hoyas Upset No. 16 UConn 13-2 for Historic 30th Win

ROCKVILLE, Md. - Behind a seven-homer performance, the Georgetown University baseball team broke the program's single-season wins record (30) with its 13-2 upset victory over the No. 16 UConn Huskies at Shirley Povich Field on Thursday. The Hoyas jumped to 30-22 overall with a 9-10 BIG EAST record while the Huskies dropped to 43-11 overall and 16-3 in conference action.

"Carter Bosch gave us an unbelievable start and to do what he did as a senior on Senior Week was truly special. Angelo Tonas behind him came on with bases loaded and no outs. The game could have swung one way or the other and he got us a huge double play. Our offense was relentless to score 13 runs on 14 hits against that pitching staff who was ranked second in the country in ERA. It says a lot about how good our offense can be when we execute. We were able to have some good at-bats against one of the best pitchers in the country in Austin Peterson at 9-1 coming into tonight's game. The fans were electric and I'm so proud of our guys to get our 30th win here."  - Head Coach Edwin Thompson on tonight's game

OF NOTE

  • Tonight's victory marks the first over a ranked opponent since downing No. 15 St. John's in 2017.
  • The 11-run differential marks the largest margin of loss for the Huskies this season.
