WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Men's Soccer Head Coach
Brian Wiese announced the
2022 schedule presented by MedStar Health on Wednesday. The slate consists of three exhibitions and 17 regular season contests including 10 contests on the Hilltop which will begin in mid-August.
Georgetown will face eight teams that appeared in the most recent NCAA Tournament including three that finished the season ranked among the top 25. The Blue & Gray advanced to the NCAA semifinals a season ago and boasted the top player in the nation as well as five professional players.
The Hoyas will travel to Penn State for an exhibition match on August 12 before playing at American and home against Virginia Tech on August 15 and 20 to close out the preseason.
Georgetown's first regular season contest will be a matchup against Pittsburgh at Ambrose Urbanic Field on August 25 before following up with four-straight home games starting with High Point on August 28.
The Blue & Gray will be facing off against Temple on September 2, and again on Labor Day to face Denver. September 10 will bring a huge matchup between the Hoyas and local-rival Maryland at Shaw Field.
GU will begin BIG EAST Conference play on the road at St. John's (September 16) before heading to James Madison (September 20). The Hoyas will play against Creighton (September 24) in league action, and Bowling Green (October 1) at home to finish up nonconference play.
As BIG EAST Conference play continues to roll, the Blue & Gray will face five opponents at home including Providence (October 12), Seton Hall (October 19), Xavier (October 22) and Marquette (October 29).
The Hoyas will hit the road traveling to Butler (October 5), DePaul (October 8), Villanova (October 15) and UConn (November 2).
The BIG EAST Championship will feature the top six teams in the league with the top two seeds earning a first round bye. The first round is scheduled for Nov. 5, while the semifinals will be played on Nov. 10. The championship game is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 13.
