WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University Cross Country and Track & Field team welcomed 19 incoming student-athletes to its program on Monday afternoon. The Hoyas have eight runners joining the women's team and 11 for the men. Fourteen of the incoming students are part of the class of 2026 with an additional five runners joining from five respective universities around the United States.
ON THE RECORD
"We're excited to welcome a vastly talented group of men and women to our program and to the Hilltop. On the men's side, our roster additions include 10 freshmen and one grad transfer who will provide additional depth in the middle and distance event areas, in addition to the sprints, hurdle events & jumps. We've brought in eight women; which includes six grad transfers and two freshmen, with several of our graduate level transfers having NCAA experience, which we anticipate will provide an immediate impact. Our successes last season from 2021 XC carried over well to indoor and through the outdoor season leading to immense success through the 2022 postseason. These additions should complement what is an already strong team and we eagerly anticipate having these newcomers contribute to what we expect will be a successful 2022-2023 season." - Director of Track & Field
