WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's volleyball team swept crosstown foe George Washington 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-16) on Saturday to clinch the tournament victory at the Dig the District Invitational. The Hoyas won their second-straight match of the weekend and improve to 2-7 on the season.
 
Hoya Highlights

• Mary Grace Goyena led the Hoyas with a match-high 11 kills while Minnie Purcell added 10 and Ruth Kayongo chipped in seven.
• Chanelle Smith, Brennan Wilhite and Giselle Williams also combined for 10 kills while committing just a pair of hitting errors between the three of them.
• Lilly Costigan recorded 31 assists and added eight digs with four blocks.
• Defensively, Karis Park hauled in 18 digs while Ellie Watkins had 11 and Jessica Cusi added 10.
• At the net, the Hoyas outblocked GW 12-8 behind six rejections from Smith and five from Wilhite.
• Defensively, Karis Park collected 11 digs for the Blue & Gray while Goyena and Ellie Watkins both had eight. 

GW Notes

• Liv Womble had 10 kills to lead GW while Tierra Porter added seven.
• Bela Bowman pulled in 21 digs and was the only GW player with double-digit digs.

Of Note

• Georgetown picked up its first win over GW since 2013, also a 3-0 Hoya sweep.
• All-Tournament Team selections will be announced once final voting has been tabulated.

The Hoyas hit the road once again and head west to face UC Santa Barbara for a pair of matches next weekend in California.
