WASHINGTON – Following the second round of play, the Georgetown University women's golf team owns a score of 20-over-par 588 (297-291) at the Golfweek Fall Challenge. The three-round tournament is being held at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club on a par-71, 6,026-yard course in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Junior
Megan Gormley shot a 1-under-par 70 on the day to lead the squad.
ABOUT THE HOYAS
- Gormley had a strong second round with her 1-under par 70 on the day to sit in a tie for 15th place overall. Starting on the back nine, the junior birdied two of the first three holes. A setback on the front nine put the junior back at even before her third birdie of the day, this time on the final hole, propelled her overall score to an even par 142 (72-70) over two rounds.
- Gabriella Gilrowski shot an even par 71 for the second round with a pair of birdies to her credit. Her even par pushed Gilrowski up to a tie for 45th overall with a two-round score of 6-over-par 148 (77-71).
- Following her impressive first round as a Hoya, Angela Lee had a slower start on the back nine. However, once she moved to the front, she shot even par for eight holes before a birdie to close the day. Lee is currently tied for 23rd with a 3-over-par 145 (70-75).
- Lauren May and Elena Zheng both carded a 4-over-par 75 in the second round, with each moving up the leaderboard. May birdied on 11 and has a two-day score of 11-over-par 153 (78-75) to sit in a tie for 73rd while Zheng birdied on 5 and 12 and has a two-day score of 14-over-par 156 (81-75) to tie for 80th overall.
