Gormley Among Top 20 as Hoyas Finish 14th at Golfweek Fall Challenge

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's golf team finished 14th at the Golfweek Fall Challenge, a 20-team field, to open the season. Over three rounds of play on the par-71, 6,026-yard course at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, the Hoyas finished with a 35-over-par 887 (297-291-299). Junior Megan Gormley was the low finisher for the Blue & Gray as she carded a 2-over 215 (72-70-73) in the season opener.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Gormley provided the low score for the Hoyas for the second-straight day with a 2-over 73 on the final round. Gormley tallied a trio of birdies on the day, all on the back nine (10, 13, 16) to finish the three-day tournament in a tie for 20th overall.
  • In her debut tournament, Angela Lee turned in a 5-over 76 in the third round for a three-day score of 8-over 221 70-75-76), enough to put her in a tie for 37th place.
  • Gabriella Gilrowski found her rhythm in the second round with an even par 71 on day two. Gilrowski closed the tournament on a 5-over 76, including a pair of birdies (5, 15) for a three-day total of 11-over 224 (77-71-76) to tie for 54th.
  • In the season opening tournament, Lauren May has improved each day. She shot a 3-over 74 on the day for a three-day score of 14-over 227 (78-75-74), which was good enough to tie for 72nd. She birdied twice on the back nine, at 11 and 15.
  • Elena Zheng turned in a 9-over 80 in the final round to finish 91st with a 23-over 236 (81-75-80).
