Hoyas Host Bluejays in BIG EAST Action

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's soccer team will host the Creighton University Bluejays in a BIG EAST Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at Cooper Field. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network Presented by SoFi on FloSports with Georgetown men's soccer alums Dan Helfrich and Tom Greaser back in the broadcast booth for their 18th season.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (1-4-2, 0-1-0) fell 2-0 to the James Madison University Dukes on Tuesday evening in nonconference action.
  • JMU struck first with a goal in the 81st minute off of a long run that went through a sliding Hoya defender to the back post to make it 1-0.
  • The Dukes would add another just two minutes later as a shot from distance was mishandled by a Hoya keeper and crossed the line into the goal to make it 2-0 which would stand as the final.
  • Georgetown outshot James Madison 18-12 as the Hoyas had six on goal and the Dukes managed four.
  • GU was awarded seven corner kicks to JMU's six in the game.
  • Junior Ryan Schewe tallied the Blue & Gray's two saves in the match.
  • The Hoyas had back-to-back road games on the schedule before now returning to Shaw Field for a two-match homestand the next two Saturdays against Creighton and Bowling Green.

  • Creighton is 3-1-3 overall and 0-0-1 in BIG EAST Conference play.
  • Senior Duncan McGuire leads the Bluejay offense with 14 points on six goals and two assists, while sophomores Jackson Castro and Owen O'Malley have five goals apiece.
  • Sophomore Giorgio Probo leads the BIG EAST with seven assists, a total that also puts him second in the nation.
  • Senior goalkeeper Paul Kruse has 13 saves in seven matches, limiting opponents to eight goals in 554 minutes.
