WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's volleyball team fell 3-2 (22-25, 25-18, 19-25, 25-20, 15-12) in the finale of the Stony Brook Invitational to the host Seawolves on Saturday afternoon.
Hoya Highlights
- Ruth Kayongo led the Hoyas (0-6) with a career-high 18 kills while Mary Grace Goyena added nine and Minnie Purcell had seven.
- Brennan Wilhite chipped in six kills, Makayla Serrett had four and both Lilly Costigan and Chanelle Smith chimed in with a pair.
- Costigan paced the offense with 36 assists to go with 12 digs for a double-double.
- Defensively, Park anchored the GU back row with 21 digs while Goyena rounded out the trio of Hoyas with double-digit digs with 16.
- Serrett was Georgetown's top menace at the net and was credited with five blocks on the day including a pair of solo rejections. Goyena and Purcell each had a pair of blocks as well.
Stony Brook Notes
- Three Seawolves (3-1) had double-figure kills, with Abby Campbell leading the way with 16. Leoni Kuntz had 15 and Kali Moore added 12.
- Torri Henry had 51 assists to go with 13 digs for a double-double while Moore added 16 digs for a double-double as well.
Side Out
Georgetown returns to the Hilltop next weekend to host a trio of foes at McDonough Arena. The Hoyas take on Rider and Binghamton on Friday before facing crosstown rival George Washington on Saturday.
