Georgetown to Host Bowling Green State in Nonconference Finale

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's soccer team will host the Bowling Green State University Falcons in GU's final nonconference match of the season on Saturday afternoon at Shaw Field. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network Presented by SoFi on FloSports with Georgetown men's soccer alums Dan Helfrich and Tom Greaser back in the broadcast booth for their 18th season.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown held on to pick up the 2-1 win over the Creighton University Bluejays in a BIG EAST Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at Shaw Field. With the victory, the Hoyas improved to 2-4-2 overall and 1-1-0 in league play.
  • In the 38th minute, sophomore Kieran Sargeant dribbled through traffic to the endline and sent a ball to the back post to an unmarked Daniel Wu who snuck in behind the defense. The senior captain hit a perfect header into the back of the net to put the Hoyas on top 1-0 which would stand at the half.
  • Georgetown would add one more in the 68th minute when a ball from junior Kyle Linhares went to the back post, and freshman Jacob Murrell was there to head it past keeper Paul Kruse making it 2-0.
  • For his efforts, Wu was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday when the BIG EAST Conference announced its weekly awards. It was Wu's first weekly honor of the season after being named the BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
  • Saturday will conclude the Blue & Gray's nonconference schedule for the season.

  • Bowling Green is 2-3-3 overall and 0-1 in Mid-American Conference play.
  • In their recent matchup, the Falcons fell 1-0 to Western Michigan in their conference opener.
  • BGSU's two wins this season were a 6-0 victory over Oakland as well as a 3-1 win at Air Force.
