Hoyas Host Butler on Wednesday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will host the Butler University Bulldogs on Wednesday at McDonough Arena in a BIG EAST Conference matchup. The opening tip is slated for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports with Eliza Kravitz and Christian Taylor calling the action.

About the Hoyas
  • Despite a late comeback, Georgetown (8-7, 1-5 BIG EAST) fell 71-64 to the Villanova University Wildcats in a matchup in Pennsylvania last Wednesday.
  • Freshman Kennedy Fauntleroy led the way with 24 points to go along with three rebounds, two steals and a block.
  • Junior Kelsey Ransom tallied 12 points, and classmate Jada Claude had 10 as well as a squad-best nine rebounds to round out those in double figures.
  • The Hoyas shot an impressive 44.4% (24-54) from the field, while allowing just 36.8% (21-57) shooting by the Wildcats.
  • On Monday, Fauntleroy was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the fourth time in the past six weeks
  • She is the BIG EAST's top-scoring freshman at 11.9 points per game, including 15.0 in conference play.
  • Fauntleroy also ranks third among all BIG EAST players this season with her 2.5 steals per game average.
  • Overall, Fauntleroy is leading the team in scoring and sitting behind Ransom with 39 steals and 45 assists on the year.
About the Bulldogs
  • Butler is 6-10 on the season and 1-6 in BIG EAST Conference play.
  • The Bulldogs fell to Villanova 68-58 on Sunday in Pennsylvania.
  • The Bulldogs used a new starting five unit that included Kendall Wingler and Trinity White.
  • Wingler stepped up with a team-high 16 points in 34 minutes of playing time, White joined her in double figures with 10 points while adding three rebounds and two assists.
  • Butler has lost its last three with the last victory coming at Xavier on December 28 by a score of 79-65.
Series Information
  • The Hoyas are 9-9 all-time against the Bulldogs and 5-4 at home.
  • The teams met twice last season with Georgetown picking up both victories.
  • Georgetown won at home by a score of 78-62, and then took the 69-48 victory at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse.
  • In last year's win at home, Mary Clougherty led the way with 24 points, including four 3-pointers. Brianna Scott managed a career-best 15 points to go along with a squad-high nine boards and two steals.
