Georgetown Hosts Creighton on Wednesday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team is set to host the Creighton University Bluejays on Wednesday evening. Tipoff at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. is slated for 6:30 p.m. The Blue & Gray is coming off a narrow defeat at Madison Square Garden on Sunday as the Hoyas fell 75-73 to St. John's. The Bluejays are coming off an 84-67 win against No. 13 Xavier on Saturday.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas enter Wednesday's game with a 6-16 record and a 1-10 mark in BIG EAST play after falling to St. John's 75-73 at Madison Square Garden on Sunday afternoon.
  • Primo Spears once again dazzled for the Blue & Gray putting up 25 points on 10 made field goals. Spears was lethal from range, sinking 4-of-6 3-pointers against the Johnnies. The Hartford, Connecticut product added one rebound, two assists and a steal.
  • Brandon Murray and Qudus Wahab rounded out the Hoyas in double figures after Murray tallied 17 and Wahab recorded 14, respectively. Murray chipped in four rebounds, two assists and two steals while Wahab added seven rebounds.
  • Akok Akok was spectacular on the defensive end recording seven rebounds, five blocks and one steal.
  • For his efforts in the 1-1 week for the Blue & Gray, Spears was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 23.0 ppg and 4.0 apg.
  • Spears' 17.1 ppg leads a quartet of Hoyas averaging double figures, followed by Murray (14.6 ppg), Jay Heath (13.4 ppg) and Wahab (10.1 ppg).
  • On the glass, Wahab leads the team with 7.4 rpg while Akok chips in 6.9 rpg.
  • Spears paces the offense with 5.4 apg, which is tied for second in the BIG EAST Conference and his 17.1 ppg are also good for first in the league. Akok's team-leading 2.1 bpg is second in the league.
 
ABOUT THE BLUEJAYS
  • Creighton (13-8, 7-3 BIG EAST) is coming off an 84-67 win against then-No. 13 Xavier on Saturday.
  • Arthur Kaluma led five Bluejays in double figures with 20 points on 7-of-16 shooting. Kaluma added nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
  • Ryan Kalkbrenner, Baylor Scheierman, Trey Alexander and Ryan Nembhard all reached double figures, putting all five of Creighton's starters in double digits on the night. Nembhard had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and chipped in eight assists.
  • Kalkbrenner leads the conference in field goal percentage this season shooting 112-of-150 (75%) and Nembhard is tied for second in the conference with 5.4 apg.
  • Greg McDermott is in his 13th season as head coach of the Bluejays.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Wednesday's matchup will be the 22nd all-time meeting between the two programs dating back to 1970 with the Bluejays holding the 12-9 advantage.
  • In their last contest, the Hoyas fell 88-77 in Omaha, Nebraska. Aminu Mohammed recorded a double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds on 8-of-15 shooting. Mohammed also went 11-of-11 from the charity stripe for one of his best performances of the season.
