Georgetown Travels to Marquette for Weekend Matchup

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team travels to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a Saturday matchup with the Marquette University Golden Eagles. Tipoff at Fiserv Forum is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The Hoyas are coming off an 73-57 loss to Villanova on Wednesday evening while Marquette is coming off a 96-85 win over St. John's on Tuesday.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas enter Saturday's game with a 5-11 overall record and an 0-5 mark in BIG EAST action after dropping their last contest to Villanova on Wednesday.
  • Jordan Riley led the Hoyas on Wednesday with 12 points on 4-of-10 shooting, five rebounds and two steals.
  • Akok Akok had his second double-double of the season on Wednesday with 11 points and 10 rebounds. He also chipped in a pair of blocks.
  • Primo Spears paced the offense with nine assists, eight points, three rebounds and two steals.
  • Spears' 15.5 ppg leads a quartet of Hoyas averaging double figures, followed by Brandon Murray (15.0 ppg), Jay Heath (13.4 ppg) and Wahab (10.8 ppg).
  • On the glass, Wahab leads the team with 7.6 rpg while Akok Akok chips in 7.1 rpg.
  • Spears paces the offense with 5.2 apg, good enough for fifth in the BIG EAST Conference. Akok's 1.9 bpg also rank fifth in the league.
 
ABOUT THE GOLDEN EAGLES
  • Marquette (12-4, 4-1 BIG EAST) is coming off a 96-85 win over St. John's in a road matchup Tuesday evening.
  • Oliver-Maxence Prosper led the way for the Golden Eagles with 29 points on 9-of-13 shooting and also added seven rebounds.
  • Tyler Kolek, the BIG EAST assist leader, filled the stat sheet with 14 points, eight assists, two rebounds and two steals.
  • Cam Jones, Prosper, Ighodaro Oso and David Joplin all average double-figures with 16.1 ppg, 15.1 ppg, 11.3 ppg and 10.3 ppg, respectively.
  • Shaka Smart enters his second season at the helm of the Golden Eagles and boasts a 291-155 overall record as a head coach.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Saturday's matchup will be the 34th all-time dating back to 1941-42. The Hoyas trail in the series 19-14.
  • In the last matchup, the Hoyas fell 77-66 at Marquette. A quartet of Hoyas were able to score in double figures and Aminu Mohammed managed a double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds.
