No. 22/23 Georgetown Downs Villanova

WASHINGTON – The No. 22/23 Georgetown women's soccer team downed the Villanova Wildcats 2-0 on Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 8-1-6 on the season and 4-0-3 in BIG EAST play while Villanova slides to 4-4-6 on the season and 1-4-1 in conference action.

Head Coach Dave Nolan
"First off, it was very important for us to get three points this afternoon and we were able to do that. Today it felt like we turned a corner, we just looked a little bit more ourselves as a team. Our key players really stepped up today, I thought Eliza Turner had an excellent game and Emma Davis did a good job on their dangerous player #34. I think after scoring that first goal it was just a matter of can we get a second goal to kind of end the contest. We were able to find that second goal and it wasn't the way any of us drew it up, but it worked out. Once it was 2-0 it was just a matter of not doing anything silly to give them a chance to get one and make the closing minutes interesting. I thought overall it was a good performance that was kind of better than what we have had the last couple of games, and we are happy to get the points. We have a very good Providence team coming here on Sunday and we are going to need a big effort from the girls in that one."
