No. 8/10 Hoyas Host St. John’s on Senior Day

WASHINGTON – The No. 8/10 Georgetown University men's soccer team will welcome the St. John's University Red Storm to Shaw Field on Saturday afternoon in a BIG EAST Conference matchup. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by Invesco QQQ on FloSports with Georgetown men's soccer alums Dan Helfrich and Tom Greaser back in the broadcast booth for their 19th season.

Event Information
  • Saturday is Senior Day so there will be a short ceremony honoring the Class of 2024 prior to kickoff.
  • Fans are encouraged to give themselves additional time to park since many campus roads will be closed and the parking lot will be very full due to the BellRinger event at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
  • Saturday will also be Alumni Weekend for the men's and women's soccer programs at Georgetown.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is sitting at 9-2-1 overall and 5-1 in BIG EAST Conference play after defeating Villanova University 2-0 on Wednesday with a pair of second-half goals.
  • The win secured a BIG EAST Championship berth for the Blue & Gray marking the 29th in program history.
  • Jacob Murrell scored the first goal on an assist from Zach Zengue and Marlon Tabora, while Kieran Sargeant used a world-class finish to make 2-0 the final.
  • Georgetown is led by Murrell with nine goals and four assists for 22 points on the season. Tabora has three goals and six assists for 12 points to his credit, while fellow senior Kyle Linhares has three goals and three assists for the year with nine points.
  • Murrell leads the league and sits at second nationally for game-winning goals (5). He also sits at third in the league in points (22), second in points per game (1.83) and third in goals per game (0.75).
  • Tabora is ranked 23rd in the country with his 0.55 assists per game and is second in the BIG EAST. Sergeant is right behind him with 0.50 assists per game to sit at fourth in the league and 32nd nationally.
  • In goal, Ryan Schewe has played a majority of the minutes with 15 saves and a 1.00 goals-against average for the year which makes him second in the league.
  • Tenzing Manske has appeared in four games and has 13 saves to go along with a 1.25 goals-against average and three shutouts.
About the Red Storm
  • St. John's is 8-3-3 on the season and 3-1-2 in BIG EAST Conference play to sit in a tie for second in the East Division.
  • The team is coming off of a 3-0 win over Seton Hall on Wednesday. Eric Danquah, Nigel Griffith and Nicolas Fleuriau Chateau each found the back of the net for the Red Storm, while Alec McLachlan preserved his fourth clean sheet of the season.
  • Fleuriau Chateau leads the Red Storm with 11 goals to sit at fifth in NCAA Division I.
  • Miguel Diaz has a BIG EAST-leading eight assists which puts him at ninth in the nation.
  • SJU has gone 4-0-2 in their last six outings with the last loss coming at Princeton 3-2 on September 19.
