Jennings Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

WASHINGTON – Georgetown junior defender Maximus Jennings was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Monday when the BIG EAST Conference announced its weekly awards. Additionally, senior forward Marlon Tabora earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Georgetown went 2-0 this past week including victories over Princeton and UConn. It is the second week in a row that Jennings and Tabora have been recognized after both earning spots on the honor roll a week ago.

BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
  • Jennings anchored the Hoya defense in a pair of shutouts over the weekend, as Georgetown (8-1-1) extended its win streak to six games.
  • In a midweek non-conference tilt with Princeton, Jennings and the Hoya defense limited the Tigers to just five shots on goal in a 3-0 victory.
  • In Saturday's BIG EAST matchup against UConn, the Huskies were limited to just four shots on target.
  • Offensively, Jennings opened the scoring in the 51st minute with his third tally of the year, resulting in the game-winner of a 3-0 triumph.
  • Jennings has three goals for six points on the season, he has also been a part of GU's five shutouts this year.
  • This is the first player of the week honor for Jennings of his career, previously this season he has earned a pair of nods to the honor roll.
  • It's the fourth player of the week honor for the Hoyas this year.

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
  • Tabora led Georgetown's offense with six points this past week, dishing out a pair of assists in a win over Princeton, before scoring two goals in a win over UConn.
  • Tabora has now scored 10 points (3G, 4A) in his last three outings, adding to his career total of 43 points.
  • He is second on the squad in scoring with three goals and five assists for 11 points on the season.
  • This is the second nod of the season for Tabora and the third of his career.
  • It's also the sixth of the season for the Hoyas.
