WASHINGTON – Following their performance at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on Friday, November 10th, eight Georgetown men's and women's cross country student-athletes earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors on Tuesday. Any runner who finished in the top-25 in their meet earned All-Region.
The Georgetown men and women will both travel to the NCAA Championships this Saturday. The women earned their bid by winning the Mid-Atlantic Region for the third-straight year. The men finished just four points shy of an automatic bid, finishing third at Regionals and earning an at-large bid.
Women's Cross Country All-Region:
Maggie Donahue – Graduate Student
- Donahue finished seventh overall with a 19:55.1 time at Mid-Atlantic Regionals.
- She is a three-time All-American and a three-time team BIG EAST Champion.
Chloe Gonzalez – Senior
- Gonzalez finished ninth overall and fourth for the Blue & Gray.
- She now has finished in the top ten at back-to-back competitions, having came in sixth at the BIG EAST Championships.
Melissa Riggins – Junior
- Melissa Riggins led the hoyas at Regionals, finishing second overall.
- Riggins is a two-time All-American and six-time BIG EAST champion including her track & field performances.
Kelsey Swenson – Graduate Student
- Swenson finished third overall and second for the Hoyas
- The graduate student joined the Hoyas this season from the University of Idaho.
Men's Cross Country All-Region:
Lucas Guerra – Sophomore
- Guerra finished 20th at Regionals to finish as the Hoyas fourth point scorer in Bethlehem.
- A second place finish at the Spider Alumni Open opened a strong season for Guerra which has carried through to Regionals.
Birhanu Harriman – Freshman
- Harriman is the only Georgetown freshman to earn All-Region honors, finishing 14th overall and third for the Hoyas
- The New Hampshire native has appeared in two other meets for Georgetown this season: BIG EAST Championships and Nuttycombe Invitational
Matt Rizzo – Graduate Student
- Rizzo finished seventh overall (second for the Hoyas) at the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
- This is the second top-15 performance for Rizzo in a major meet this season, having finished 13th earlier this season at the BIG EAST Championships
Parker Stokes – Graduate Student
- Parker Stokes has been an anchor for the Hoyas this season and continued his strong performances with a ninth place finish at Mid-Atlantic Regionals.
- Stokes is a two-time All American and a seven-time Big East Champion (including his success in track & field).
