WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's volleyball program (13-15, 4-12) will travel to UConn (7-21, 2-14) and Providence (8-20, 2-14) to round out the BIG EAST season.
The Hoyas will face UConn Friday at 6 p.m. and Providence Saturday at 4 p.m.
About the Hoyas:
- The Hoyas fell to Providence 3-2 when they hosted the Friars back on October 6th. The five set match featured 23 kills from Mary Grace Goyena and 20 digs from Karis Park.
- Georgetown downed UConn 3-1 when they faced on October 7th. Senior Ruth Kayongo led the way with a career-high 16 kills
- Peyton Wilhite and Goyena lead the Hoyas in points per set, ranking eighth and ninth in the BIG EAST, respectively.
- Freshman Kamryn Lee-Caracci is coming off a strong weekend that saw her tally 12 kills and three blocks in four sets against DePaul on Saturday.
Scouting UConn:
- UConn is coming off a 0-2 weekend that saw an 3-0 loss at Butler and a 3-1 loss at Xavier.
- Redshirt Junior Taylor Pannell and Junior Doga Kutlu are anchors for the UConn team, having played in each of the team's 103 sets this season.
- Turkish setter Kutlu leads the Huskies in assists per set, with 7.08 (eighth in BIG EAST).
- Sophomore outside hitter Emma Werkmeister paces the Huskies with 3.53 points per set.
Scouting Providence:
- The Friars are looking to bounce back from a winless road trip last weekend, falling 3-0 to Xavier and 3-1 to Butler.
- The Providence defense is led by its blocking, ranking fourth in the BIG EAST with 2.05 blocks per set. Three Friars have 70+ blocks on the season: Kayla Grant (100.0), Lyric Berry (87.0), and Shea Dupius (70.0).
- Berry led all players with a match-high seven blocks in the Friars' 3-2 win over Georgetown earlier this season.
- Senior Sammie Ruggles ranks second in the BIG EAST with .40 aces per set.
