Top-Seeded Hoyas Host Eighth-Seeded Seton Hall in BIG EAST First Round

WASHINGTON – The No. 5/10 Georgetown University men's soccer team will begin its BIG EAST tournament bid with a first round home match against eighth-seeded Seton Hall on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. at Shaw Field. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by Invesco QQQ on FloSports with Georgetown men's soccer alums Dan Helfrich and Tom Greaser back in the broadcast booth for their 19th season.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is the top seed in the tournament after clinching the BIG EAST East Division Regular Season Championship and the top seed in the tournament on Saturday with an overall record of 11-2-2 and 6-1-1 in BIG EAST Conference play.
  • The regular season title came with Georgetown's 2-1 win over Marquette on Saturday in Milwaukee. Sophomore Jacob Murrell and junior Maximus Jennings each notched a goal for Georgetown in the contest.
  • For their efforts, Murrell and Jennings were named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday. 
  • Murrell leads the Hoyas with 11 goals and four assists for 26 points on the season. He sits at 15th nationally in goals scored, as well as second nationally and first in the BIG EAST in game-winning goals (6). 
  • Murrell also sits at third in the league for goals, goals per game (0.73), points and points per game (1.73). 
  • Sophomore Zach Zengue trails Murrell with five goals and five assists on the year for 15 points, as does senior Marlon Tabora with three goals and seven assists for 13 points.
  • Tabora is third in the BIG EAST and 27th nationally in assists per game (0.50). Junior Kieran Sargeant is behind him with six assists on the season, making him sixth in the league.
  • In goal, Ryan Schewe has played a majority of the minutes with 23 saves and a 1.00 goals-against average for the year which makes him third in the league.
About the Pirates
  • Seton Hall is 8-5-3 on the season and 3-4-1 in BIG EAST Conference play, finishing fifth in the East Division with the eighth seed in the BIG EAST Championship.
  • The team is coming off of a 1-0 win over Providence on Saturday at home, with the lone goal scored by James Boote.
  • Andrea Borg leads the Pirates with five goals and seven assists on the season for 17 points. Boote is behind him with six goals and four assists for 16 points.
  • Mats Roorda has appeared in 14 games for Seton Hall with 53 saves and five shutouts to his credit for a 1.31 goals-against-average, making him seventh in the league.
