WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's
Jacob Murrell was selected by DC United with the seventh overall selection of the 2024 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft presented by adidas on Tuesday.
Ryan Schewe was drafted by Sporting Kansas City at No. 22 with both players going in the first round.
Three players were selected in the second round with
Kyle Linhares going to the Portland Timbers (11th, 40th overall),
Kenny Nielsen being drafted by LAFC (28th, 57th overall) and
Zach Zengue being selected by the Columbus Crew (29th, 58th overall). In the third round,
Maximus Jennings was drafted by Real Salt Lake with the 18th pick in the round and 76th overall.
New for this year, the SuperDraft was expanded to include college players who are collegiate sophomores and above, Generation adidas players, any former college player who departed college with remaining eligibility since the conclusion of the college season approximately one (1) year prior to the SuperDraft, and other players specifically made available by the League. Drafted players with collegiate eligibility remaining can opt to return to school in the fall. Any drafted player who opts to return to college in the fall of 2024 or turns professional will not be draft-eligible in the future.
Jacob Murrell

- Selected by DC United in the first round of the draft with the seventh overall pick.

Ryan Schewe
Goalkeeper
Marietta, Ga.
- Picked in the first round by Sporting Kansas City with the 22nd overall selection.
- A United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-East Region honoree.
- Was selected to the MLS College Showcase.
- Schewe was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year and was a First Team All-BIG EAST selection.
- The goalkeeper started all 14 games he appeared in this season.
- The senior had a record of 9-2-3 with five shutouts on the year.
- He boasted a 0.84 goals-against average and a 0.707 save percentage.
- The goalkeeper had 29 saves this season.
- He was the Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year and a Preseason All-BIG EAST selection in August.
- It was his second-career honor on the Hilltop after being named to the second team a season ago.
- Named a College Sports Communicator Academic All-District honoree.
Kyle Linhares
Midfielder
Teaneck, N.J.
- Selected by the Portland Timbers in the second round with the 11th pick, he went 40th overall.
- A Third Team All-BIG EAST selection.
- Linhares started all 19 matches for the Hoyas with five goals and four assists for 14 points on the year ranking him fourth on the squad.
- He had two goals and an assist in the win over Pitt earlier this year.
- Linhares was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on 9/5.
Kenny Nielsen
Defender
Irvine, Calif.
- Selected by LAFC in the second round with the 28th pick and 57th overall.
- Named a United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American.
- The defender was named First Team All-East Region earlier this week.
- He was the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-BIG EAST honoree.
- Nielsen started all 19 games he appeared in and had one goal and one assist for three points on the season.
- The team captain had the game winner against Pitt.
- On defense, Nielsen organized a backline that posted eight shutouts on the season.
- Nielsen was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on 9/18.
- It was Nielsen's third-consecutive BIG EAST postseason award after earning a spot on the All-BIG EAST Third Team in both 2021 and 2022.
- He was the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and a Preseason All-BIG EAST selection in August.
Zach Zengue
Midfielder
North Oaks, Minn.
- Selected by the Columbus Crew in the second round with the 29th pick and 58th overall.
- He was a Third Team All-BIG EAST honoree.
- Zengue started all 19 games for the Blue & Gray and ranked second on the team in scoring with five goals and six assists for 16 points on the year.
- He managed two goals against Xavier and tallied an impressive three assists in the victory over UNC Wilmington.
- Zengue earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on 10/23.
- Has eligibility remaining on the Hilltop.
Maximus Jennings
Defender
Montclair, N.J.
- Drafted by Real Salt Lake with the 18th pick in the third round and 76th overall.
- Started all 19 games for the Hoyas on the backline.
- Scored five goals with one assist for 11 points on the season to rank fifth on the squad.
- On defense, Jennings was on a backline that posted eight shutouts on the season.
- Named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on 10/9 and earned three nods to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll (9/5, 10/2, 10/30).
- Has eligibility remaining on the Hilltop.
