Georgetown Travels to Northwestern on Sunday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will travel to Evanston, Illinois to face the Northwestern University Wildcats in a nonconference matchup on Sunday. The opening tip is scheduled for 4 p.m. EST at the Welsh-Ryan Arena.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is coming off a home win over Howard on Thursday night 45-43, making it unbeaten in the last four games.
  • Senior Kelsey Ransom led the Hoyas once again with her second double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and tying her career-best on the boards with 14 in the contest.
  • Ransom also led the Hoyas with four assists and as many steals on the evening.
  • Graduate student Alex Cowan added seven points for Georgetown, while classmate Graceann Bennett tallied four points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
  • The Hoyas shot 30.9% (17-55) from the field, and the Blue & Gray allowed just 24.2% (15-62) shooting by the Bison, also forcing 15 Bison turnovers on 10 steals.
  • Ransom was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. She is 14th in the league in scoring (15.1 ppg), sixth in rebounding (7.9 rpg), seventh in assists (3.7 apg) and leads the league with an impressive 3.4 steals per game. This was her first nod to the honor roll this season and the fifth of her career.
  • The Blue & Gray is leading the league and ranked second in the nation in scoring defense averaging 46.1 ppg.
  • GU's 6-1 record is its best start since the 2010-11 campaign when the Hoyas started the year 7-1. That season, the squad went 24-11 with a trip to the NCAA Sweet 16.

  • Northwestern is 3-4 to start the season, dropping their last three contests and most recently falling to Loyola Chicago 73-68.
  • The Wildcats are currently standing last among the Big Ten's 14 teams.
