Women’s Basketball Visits Colgate on Tuesday

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will face the Colgate University Raiders in a nonconference road game on Tuesday at Cotterell Court in Hamilton, New York. It is Georgetown's second contest in a two-game road swing. The opening tip is scheduled for 6 p.m.

  • Georgetown is coming off of a decisive road win against the Northwestern University Wildcats 82-58 on Sunday afternoon in Evanston, Illinois.
  • Senior Kelsey Ransom scored her 1,000th career point during the matchup becoming the 27th woman in program history to achieve this milestone.
  • Ransom also helped lead the team with an all-around performance of 16 points, three assists and two steals.
  • Sophomore guard Victoria Rivera also led the team with a career-best 16 points as well as three rebounds and a steal.
  • The Hoyas spread the scoring wealth as five players earned double-digit points. Graduate student Graceann Bennett scored 15 points and had six rebounds, while classmate Alex Cowan added 10 points, five rebounds and six assists.
  • Junior Brianna Scott rounded out the Hoyas with a versatile performance of 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
  • The Blue & Gray's dominant offensive effort led to a 46.4 (26-56) shooting percentage from the field, with Rivera showing impressive three-point shooting as she made four of five three-point attempts in the first six minutes of the game alone.
  • Georgetown also had a strong showing on defense, outrebounding the Wildcats 35-25 and forcing 14 turnovers on nine steals.
  • This victory marks the team's fifth win in a row, as GU has not lost since its Nov. 12 drop to Brown.
  • For the second-consecutive week, Ransom was placed on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday for the sixth time in her career.
  • In two wins this week, she averaged 14.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game.
  • Ransom is 12th in the league in scoring (15.3 ppg), eighth in rebounding (7.3 rpg), ninth in assists (3.6 apg) and leads the league with an impressive 3.3 steals per game
  • The Hoyas are leading the league and ranked third in the nation in scoring defense averaging 47.6 ppg.
  • Georgetown's record now sits at 7-1, which ties the best start to a Hoyas season since their 2010-11 season.
About the Raiders
  • Colgate currently holds a record of 4-2, dropping both of their games in the Miami Thanksgiving Tournament to Miami and Norfolk State. They most recently turned the tide with a dominant win against Keuka College 97-22.
  • The Raiders now sit at third place in the Patriot League behind Lehigh and Boston University. Their standing matches the league's Preseason Coaches' Poll selection for the team.
  • Preseason all-conference selection Taylor Golembiweski leads the team, scoring an average of 14.8 points per game.
