WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's basketball team hosts longtime rival Syracuse to the District on Saturday, December 9. Tipoff at Capital One Arena is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. and the game will be broadcast on FOX. Despite a setback against TCU last Saturday, the Hoyas have won four of their last five games and enter the contest with a 5-3 record while Syracuse is 6-3 following a win against Cornell on Tuesday.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
- The Hoyas enter the game at 5-3 following an 84-83 setback against TCU as part of the BIG EAST/Big 12 Battle last Saturday.
- Despite trailing by as many as 15 early in the second half, the Hoyas clawed their way back and took a two-point lead with two seconds on the clock but a last-second triple gave the Horned Frogs the 84-83 victory at Capital One Arena.
- Jayden Epps led a quartet of Hoyas in double figures with 24 points on 9-for-14 shooting from the floor and a 5-for-7 performance from the free throw line. He chipped in a squad-best five assists.
- Dontrez Styles tallied 18 points behind a trio of 3-pointers and five from the charity stripe to go along with six boards.
- Ismael Massoud chipped in 16 points on four made field goals, all from beyond the arc, and a perfect 4-for-4 effort at the free throw line. He added a squad-best 10 rebounds for the first double-double of his career.
- Jay Heath rounded out those in double figures with 10 points on 3-for-6 shooting with all three of his buckets coming from downtown.
- Epps leads a quintet of Hoyas in scoring, averaging 19.1 points per game, followed by Styles (16.4 ppg), Massoud (12.5 ppg), Supreme Cook (10.9 ppg) and Heath (10.1 ppg).
- Cook is GU's leader on the boards, grabbing 8.1 rpg, while Styles pulls down 6.9 rpg.
- Epps paces the offense with 4.5 apg.
- Epps' 19.1 ppg ranks second in scoring in the BIG EAST while his 46.2% (24-52) performance from beyond the arc tops the league. Cook's 8.1 rpg is second in the league.
- The Hoyas are led by Ed Cooley who is in his 18th season as a collegiate head coach and his first season with Georgetown. In 2022, Cooley was the recipient of the Naismith Coach of the Year Award, named the Sporting News Coach of the Year, the BIG EAST Coach of the Year, the NABC District 5 Coach of the Year and the USBWA District 1 Coach of the Year.
ABOUT THE ORANGE
- Syracuse enters the contest at 6-3 on the year and are coming off an 81-70 win over Cornell on Tuesday night at the JMA Wireless Dome.
- Judah Mintz scored 28 points, including a career-high five 3-pointers. In addition to Mintz's team-leading effort, Chris Bell had 19 points and Justin Taylor contributed 15 points and eight rebounds.
- Mintz leads a trio in double-figure scoring with 19.6 ppg, followed by Bell (14.0 ppg) and JJ Starling (11.4 ppg).
- Taylor is SU's leader on the glass, pulling down 6.2 rpg.
- The Orange are led by Head Coach Adrian Autry, in his first season.
ABOUT THE SERIES WITH SYRACUSE
- Saturday's matchup will be the 99th time the two programs have met dating back to 1930 with the Orange leading the series 53-45.
- Syracuse won the 2022 meeting 83-64 at the JMA Wireless Dome but the last time the two programs met in the District, the Hoyas took down the Orange 79-75 at Capital One Arena during the 2021-22 season. In that home matchup, Aminu Mohammed had a double-double with a game-high 23 points and 13 rebounds. He tacked on five assists and two steals as the Hoyas grabbed the victory.
