BALTIMORE – Georgetown University's third-ranked men's lacrosse team dropped its 2023 season opener with a 13-12 setback at Johns Hopkins on Saturday afternoon. The Hoyas fall to 0-1 on the season while the Blue Jays improve to 2-0 overall.

How it Happened
- Georgetown got on the board first with Dordevic's first goal of the game and, following a matching goal from JHU, scored three-straight to close out the first quarter to lead 4-1.
- Johns Hopkins responded with four consecutive goals to open the second quarter and take a 5-4 lead before the Blue & Gray answered with a 3-0 run of their own en route to a 7-6 halftime lead.
- Georgetown outscored its host 4-2 in the third behind three different goal scorers to take an 11-8 advantage into the final frame.
- Hopkins controlled tempo in the fourth, scoring five-straight to take a 13-11 lead with five minutes to play. The Hoyas cut the deficit to one with 1:06 remaining on Kelly's goal and had the ball in the waning seconds but Georgetown's final shot was deflected by a diving Hopkins defender as time expired.

- Russell Melendez led the Blue Jays with four goals while Garrett Degnon and Jonathan Peshko both had three.
- Jacob Angelus dished out four assists.
- Tyler Dunn won 11-of-22 (.500) faceoffs to go with two ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.
- In goal, Tim Marcille collected 16 saves in the win.
