WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team (1-1) fell to the Towson Tigers (2-0) 13-12 in a tight back-and-forth battle.

"We played hard but made too many mistakes too," said Head Coach Rickey Fried. "We were one away from a victory. I am confident our team will use this as a learning lesson moving forward."
How It Happened
- The Hoyas got the scoring started with a free position goal from Erin Bakes at the 12:01 mark. The Tigers responded with back-to-back goals in the span of a minute. Emma Gebhardt and Bakes battled through the Tiger defense and picked up one goal a piece. Towson closed out the first quarter with three goals including two from Blair Goodrich to finish the quarter 5-3.
- Olivia Rubin opened the second quarter with a goal off of a free position shot. Milana Zizakovic then earned a free position goal of her own to push Towson's lead to 6-4. Gebhardt and Bakes each responded with a goal to tie the game at 6-6. The Tigers and Hoyas exchanged a pair of goals before Koras Hailey scored to give Towson the 8-7 advantage at halftime.
- In the third quarter the Hoyas denied the Tigers any goals and limited them to four shots. BIG EAST Attacker of the Week Kylie Hazen scored twice to give the Blue & Gray the lead 9-8 at the end of the third.
- The Tigers came out steaming in the fourth and landed two goals in the first minute and a half. Lily Tardif found the back of the net for the Hoyas at the 11:40 mark to tie the game 10-10. Towson and Georgetown exchanged another pair of goals before the Tigers went on a two-goal run to widen the lead 13-11. Gebhardt added a goal for the Hoyas with 30 seconds remaining to narrow the gap but Towson would win the game by one.

- Bakes led the team with four goals while Hazen and Gebhardt each tallied three.
- Lily Athanas led with five draw controls followed by Hazen with four.
- Nicole Massiminio led the defense with three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
- Leah Warehime had four saves and totaled a .444 save percentage.
- GU outshot Towson 34-28 and tied with four free position goals and eight caused turnovers.
