Georgetown to Play at Creighton on Saturday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will close out a two-game road swing this week as the Hoyas travel to Omaha, Nebraska to face the Creighton University Bluejays on Saturday afternoon at D.J. Sokol Arena. The opening tip is slated for 2 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (12-14, 5-12 BIG EAST) lost a close one 58-56 at Butler on Wednesday evening. The Hoyas took a lead in the final minute, but could not hold on for the win.
  • Junior captain Kelsey Ransom led the way with 12 points, while senior captain Graceann Bennett added 10 and five boards.
  • The rookie pair of Kennedy Fauntleroy and Victoria Rivera scored 10 points apiece to round out those in double figures.
  • Fauntleroy also had five assists and as many steals in the contest.
  • For her efforts against then-No. 4/4 UConn and then-No. 15/18 Villanova, Fauntleroy was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday for the sixth time this season.
  • Fauntleroy was the highest scoring freshman in the BIG EAST last week, averaging 17.5 points off 50-percent shooting against the pair of ranked opponents.
  • Against the Wildcats, the rookie guard had 11 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals. She followed that with a game-high 24 points and five steals against UConn. Fauntleroy shot over 70 percent (5-7) from three on the week, including a 4-of-5 mark against the Huskies.
  • Her sixth BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor made her one of just three players in Georgetown history to earn this award six or more times during their rookie season. Natalie Butler captured the honor 10 times during the 2013-14 campaign, and WNBA All-Star Rebekkah Brunson was a six-time winner in 2000-01.
  • Fauntleroy is the BIG EAST's top-scoring freshman at 11.8 points per game, including 12.8 in conference play, and also ranks third among all BIG EAST players this season with her 2.6 steals per game average.
  • Ransom is the Hoyas leading scorer and is 15th in the league in scoring with 13.0 ppg. She leads the league in steals with 2.8 spg which ranks her 18th in the nation, is tenth in the league on the glass with 6.8 rpg, and 10th in the conference in assists managing 3.2 apg.
About the Bluejays
  • Creighton comes into the matchup at 18-7 on the season and 12-5 in BIG EAST Conference play, good for third place in the league.
  • Following six-consecutive wins, the Bluejays lost a close one to No. 6/6 UConn 62-60 on Wednesday.
  • Morgan Maly led Creighton with 15 points, while Rachael Saunders and Lauren Jensen each finished with 13 points.
  • Jensen leads the squad with 16.2 ppg, tied for eighth in the conference, and 3.7 apg, tied for sixth in the conference.
Series Information
  • The Hoyas are 4-15 all-time against the Bluejays and 1-8 on the road.
  • Less than a month ago, Georgetown fell to Creighton 65-57 at McDonough Arena.
  • In the game, Ransom led the way with 24 points including a team-high nine rebounds as well as five steals and four assists. Kristina Moore added 13 points as the other Hoya in double figures.
