Swimming & Diving Heads to New York for BIG EAST Championships

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's and women's swimming & diving teams will head to East Meadow, New York for the BIG East Championships, presented by JEEP, on February 22-25 at the Nassau Aquatics Center. 

MEET INFORMATION
  • The four-day meet begins on Wednesday with diving preliminaries starting at 3:15 p.m. and the finals following at 5:45 p.m.
  • Prelims will start at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with evening finals starting at 5:45 p.m.
  • For all information regarding tickets, head to the BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championship Central.
  • All Championship action will air live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports, with wall-to-wall coverage that includes all event preliminaries, finals and awards. Alexis Downie will be poolside during the finals reporting on all the action.
ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The men's team will be fighting to defend it's 2022 championship title while the women's team will be looking for it's first BIG EAST Championship win in program history. 
  • The GU men and women have combined to win 11 dual meets this season. 
  • Jack Brearton and Erin Hood both earned a BIG EAST Athlete of the Week award this season. 
  • Last year, Head Coach Jack Leavitt and his staff earned the Men's Swimming Coaching Staff of the Year.
  • In the 2022 championship victory, the men captured 16 medals, bringing home eight gold, five silver and three bronze. 
  • The women's team earned eight medals, one gold, three silver and four bronze to finish in fourth, 12 points behind third place Xavier. 
  • GU's women's team has been the runner up in six of the last eight BIG EAST Championships.
