Hoyas Host Providence in Regular Season Home Finale

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will close out home competition hosting the Providence College Friars on Tuesday evening at McDonough Arena. The opening tip is slated for 7 p.m  and the game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports with Eliza Kravitz and Christian Taylor calling the action.

  • Tickets can be purchased at wearegeorgetown.com/wbbtickets. Additionally, Georgetown students as well as GU faculty and staff will be admitted for free for all games at McDonough Arena with a valid GoCard.
  • Prior to the start of the game, there will be a short ceremony honoring the members of the Class of 2023.
  • Tuesday is also GU's Black Fives game as the BIG EAST recognizes teams from the barrier-breaking league during Black History Month. The Georgetown women are playing for the Germantown Hornets.
About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (12-15, 5-13 BIG EAST) lost a tough one 75-34 at Creighton on Saturday afternoon in Omaha.
  • Senior captain Graceann Bennett led the way with 14 points as the lone Hoya in double figures.
  • Junior captain Kelsey Ransom added seven points, seven rebounds and three assists.
  • The Hoyas shot 25.0% (9-26) from the field, and the Blue & Gray allowed 48.3% (12-31) shooting by the Bluejays.
  • GU was outrebounded by Creighton 44-27 in the game, and Georgetown forced 14 Bluejay turnovers on nine steals.
  • Freshman Kennedy Fauntleroy is the BIG EAST's top-scoring freshman at 11.5 points per game, including 12.3 in conference play, and also ranks third among all BIG EAST players this season with her 2.5 steals per game average.
  • Ransom is the Hoyas leading scorer and is 17th in the league in scoring with 12.8 ppg. She leads the league in steals with 2.7 spg which ranks her 19th in the nation, is 11th in the league on the glass with 6.8 rpg, and 10th in the conference in assists managing 3.2 apg.
About the Friars
  • Providence comes into the matchup at 13-15 on the season and 4-13 in BIG EAST Conference play as the Hoyas and Friars are jostling for position in the league standings.
  • On Saturday, Providence fell to DePaul 86-46 at home.
  • Nariah Scott led the way with 16 points, and Janai Crooms finished with 12 points, five rebounds, one assist and two steals.
  • Olivia Olsen rounded out the double-digits scorers with 11 points and added seven boards.
  • Crooms leads the squad with 11.5 ppg, and 7.0 rpg as well as a team-high 99 assists and 33 steals.
Series Information
  • The Hoyas are 40-32 all-time against the Friars and 20-11 at home.
  • Earlier this year, Georgetown picked up the 61-51 victory in Providence.
  • In that game, Ransom led the way with 25 points, and Fauntleroy added 17.
  • The last meeting in D.C. was a 66-58 overtime Hoya loss a season ago. The Hoyas would get revenge weeks later as GU downed PC 68-55 in the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament at Mohegan Sun.
