East Meadow, N.Y. – Georgetown University's men's and women's swimming & diving teams medaled in four events, including a gold medal to break a Georgetown school record in the men's 200 medley relay with a time of 1:27.60 on day one of the BIG EAST Championships in East Meadow, New York on Wednesday evening.

"Always really good to get out to a fast start," said head coach Jack Leavitt. "It's a lot of nerves, a lot of expectation. The team handled it really well. I love how we ended with the 200 medleys. The divers really stepped up big all day. We're excited for the rest of the weekend."

Hoya Highlights

• Georgetown leads the field with 247 combined points with the men's sitting in first (137) and the women tied with UConn for second (110). 
• The men's 200 medley relay team of John McEarchern, Bailey De Luise, Michael Baldini and Connor Brennan shattered a school record previously set in 2022 with a first place finish of 1:27.60. 
• The women's 200 medley's team of Maddie Haley, Alex Breuer, Genevieve Youngman and Bella Wylie solidified a second place finish of 1:41.13.
• The women's 800 free relay team of Erin Hood, Sophia Ribeiro, Sammy Hagberg and Ryan Evangelista started the evening off with a bronze medal with a time of 7:25.95.
• On the men's side, the 800 free squad of Tomo Nozaki, Josiah Lauver, Jack Brearton and Andrew Babyak battled back to finish in third with a time of 6:36.70.
