Wilmington, N.C.– The Georgetown University baseball team moved to 5-1 on Saturday after taking down the UNC Wilmington Seahawks 11-0. Three Hoyas recorded home runs in the team's second consecutive shutout.
ON THE RECORD
"Today's ballgame was truly a team effort. Our guys battled and we played great defense.
Andrew Williams gave us an unbelievable start against a really program that has a good offense. Back-to-back shutouts for the first time since last year against Seton Hall but that isn't the story here at all. The story today was our offense,
Owen Carapellotti,
Christian Ficca and
Ubaldo Lopez, to have those hits when we needed to was great. We needed some life and we got that from some of those big hits today. Then there was two unbelievable catches and I have never seen anything like that in my 20 years of college baseball when
Andrew Bergeron robbed those two home runs and it was a sight to see. I am really happy for our guys and we played against a really good program so looking forward to continuing our games tomorrow and excited to get back out here tomorrow." - Head Coach
Edwin Thompson
