Hoyas Travel to Omaha For Regular Season Finale

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team will travel to Omaha, Nebraska to take on the No. RV/23 Creighton Bluejays on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. at CHI Health Center Omaha. The Hoyas are coming off an 88-68 setback to then-No. 20/18 Providence at Capital One Arena on Sunday while Creighton is coming off a 79-67 loss to Villanova at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Saturday.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas enter Wednesday's game with a 7-23 record and a 2-17 mark in BIG EAST play after falling to then-No. 20/18 Providence on Sunday afternoon in their home finale as they celebrated Senior Day.
  • Primo Spears and Jay Heath combined for 45 points, including a combined 30 in the second half. Spears led the squad with 26 points in 10-of-19 shooting while adding a quartet of assists.
  • Jay Heath added 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including a 5-of-8 performance from beyond the arc while adding a squad-best two steals.
  • Bradley Ezewiro led the Hoyas on the glass with eight rebounds while chipping in six points with a 2-for-3 performance from the charity stripe while Brandon Murray paced the offense with five helpers and Akok Akok chipped in a squad-best four blocks.
  • Spears' 15.8 ppg leads a trio of Hoyas averaging double figures, followed by Murray (14.1 ppg) and Heath (13.0 ppg).
  • On the glass, Qudus Wahab leads the team with 7.3 rpg while Akok Akok chips in 6.3 rpg.
  • Spears paces the offense with 5.3 apg, which ranks second in the BIG EAST. Akok's team-leading 2.0 bpg is also good for second in the league.
 
ABOUT THE BLUEJAYS
  • Creighton (18-11, 12-6 BE) is coming off a 79-67 loss to Villanova in Philadelphia on Saturday.
  • Three players finished in double figures in Arthur Kaluma (19), Ryan Kalkbrenner (18), and Baylor Scheierman (10). Kaluma led the way on the glass with six boards, while Scheierman recorded three assists and Kalkbrenner posted two blocks.
  • Kalkbrenner is the team's leading scorer with 14.8 ppg, followed by Trey Alexander (13.0), Scheierman (13.0), Kaluma (12.1) and Ryan Nembhard (11.8) contributing double digits on the offensive end.
  • Scheierman leads the way on the glass with 8.3 rpg while Nembhard paces the offense with 5.0 apg.
  • Head Coach Greg McDermott is in his 13th season at the helm of the Bluejays. He boasts an all-time record of 556-332 as a college head coach.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Wednesday's matchup will be the 23rd all-time meeting between the two programs dating back to 1970 with the Hoyas trailing the series 13-9.
  • In their last contest earlier this year, the Hoyas fell 63-53 at Capital One Arena. Wahab led the Hoyas in scoring with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting while adding eight boards. Murray and Spears added 11 and 10 points, respectively, to round out the Hoyas in double figures.
