Georgetown Track Has Five Athletes Qualify for NCAA Indoor Championships

WASHINGTON – Georgetown track's Melissa Riggins, Maya Drayton, Katy-Ann McDonald, Grace Jensen and Matt Rizzo are heading to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The women's Distance Medley Relay team of Jensen, McDonald, Riggins and Drayton earned qualification to the NCAA Indoor Championships with their time of 10:54.18 that was recorded at Alex Wilson Invitational. This is the first women's DMR team to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships since 2016 when Andrea Keklak, Heather Martin, Emma Keenan and Katrina Coogan did. That team also won the event and were crowned national champions of the women's DMR in 2016.

Matt Rizzo qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in the mile event. Rizzo's time of 3:56.20 was recorded at John Terrier Classic in Boston, Massachusetts on January 27. His time earned him a spot amongst the nation's top 16 runners in the mile. Rizzo's time is the second fastest in school history.

The NCAA Indoor Championships are set to take place on March 10 & 11 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. All qualifiers for the NCAA Indoor Championships can be found here. Live results, a stream link, and more information will be available on GUHoyas.com.
