WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team captured its tenth win of the season against the University of Hartford on Sunday. The Hoyas were fueled by
Jake Bloss on the mound who went eight innings and struck out 11 batters.
ON THE RECORD
"Today was a great day for our team but more so for
Jake Bloss. He was dominant all game going eight innings with 11 strikeouts and allowing only one hit and one walk and it was just really fun to watch. Our defense behind him responded after a very difficult defensive day yesterday. Overall, just really happy with
Carson Frye as well and Bloss as he was the key to the game along with
Owen Carapellotti. Offensively, their pitcher was really good for six and two-thirds there but eventually we were able to get to him there with
Marco Castillo off the bench with a huge double that we needed to score those two runs. We had a big run there in the eighth to separate ourselves and we haven't been doing that early enough but at the end of the day, to win 10-0 was a great job. I am proud of our guys winning the series and going 4-1 on the week." - Head Coach
Edwin Thompson

GU would take the 2-0 lead into the top half of the eighth.

- In the bottom half of the eighth, GU began to pour it on after Ubaldo Lopez walked and Carapellotti brought him home with an RBI triple. Hyde swung on the first pitch and clobbered his fourth home run of the season over the right field wall giving GU the 10-0 lead.
