WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team won its third-straight game with a 22-10 victory over visiting High Point on Saturday afternoon. The No. 16/17 Hoyas even their season record to 3-3 while the Panthers fall to 6-3.
Graham Bundy Jr. became just the 11th player in program history to score 100 career goals while
TJ Haley became the 30th Hoya to reach the 100 career point mark.
Jacob Kelly also reached the 100 career point mark after transferring in from North Carolina this season.
Hoya Highlights
- Brian Minicus led the Hoyas with six goals and an assist for seven points – all in the first half. Kelly added four goals, Bundy had two goals and an assist while both Declan McDermott and Jordan Wray found the back of the cage twice. Wray's first goal was the first of his collegiate career.
- Tucker Dordevic had a goal and three assists, Haley posted three assists and Nicky Solomon notched a goal with two assists.
- Will Bowen and Will Tominovich both scored long pole goals off assists from Dordevic while Dylan Hess and Lucas Dudemaine both scored once as well – including Dudemaine's first collegiate goal.
- Patrick Crogan had two assists while both Aidan Carroll and Cavanagh Williams had one each.
- Defensively, the Hoyas were credited with 15 caused turnovers as Bowen led the way with four to go with three ground balls. James Donaldson had three caused turnovers and three ground balls while Tominovich and Hess both had two caused turnovers as well.
- James Reilly won 15 of 22 (.681) faceoffs and collected 11 ground balls.
- In goal, Michael Scharfenberger earned the win to improve to 3-0 on the season and 6-0 in his career on the Hilltop. He collected six saves to go with two ground balls and a caused turnover.
How it Happened
- The Hoyas took control early, scoring 54 seconds into the game courtesy of Dordevic's lone goal. Georgetown would push its lead to 6-0 in the opening frame before High Point got on the board at the 4:27 mark en route to a 6-2 GU advantage after 15 minutes.
- A slow start to the second saw the Panthers score first at the 11:51 mark to make 7-3, but the Blue & Gray clamped down and reeled off seven-straight goals to close out the quarter and take a 14-3 lead going into halftime.
- Coming out of the break, Georgetown converted two long pole goals in transition from Tominovich and Bowen to lead 16-3. Three-straight goals from High Point made it 16-6 with five minutes to play in the third, but Bundy fired home his milestone goal just 14 seconds later and backed it up with another goal at the 3:28 mark for an 18-6 advantage. The Panthers would score once more in the frame.
- Georgetown scored the first four goals of the fourth quarter to eclipse the 20-goal mark for the first time this season at 22-7. The Hoya reserves saw ample playing time down the stretch with every dressed player seeing action on the field to close out the 22-10 victory.
High Point Notes
- Brayden Mayea led the Panthers with four goals and an assist while adding three caused turnovers and four ground balls.
- Jack VanOverbeke had two goals and two assists.
- Collin Hoben won 16 of 29 faceoffs and hauled in 10 ground balls.
- In goal, Parker Green and Zack Overend combined for 12 saves in the loss.
Hoya Notes
- Georgetown's 22 goals are the most in a non-conference game since defeating Fairfield 25-12 in 2020.
- Haley moves into fourth place all-time on the Hilltop in career assists with 85, passing both Craig Dowd ('10) and Brendan Cannon ('08).
