WASHINGTON – Fueled by a strong and consistent first 36 holes from junior
Megan Gormley, Georgetown University's women's golf team is currently in fourth place at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational. The Hoyas have played through 36 of the 54-hole, two-day tournament hosted by the University of Hawai'i. The par-72, 6,123-yard course designed by Ernie Els at the Hoakalei Country Club plays host to the 11-team field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gormley is currently in a three-way tie for second place, carding a 2-over 146 (72-74) following 36 holes played on Monday. Over the two rounds, Gormley has tallied six birdies and 23 pars.
- With a two-round score of 9-over 153 (78-75), Gabriella Gilrowski is tied for 25th after a pair of rounds. Tallying seven birdies, the junior leads the squad in the category and she managed five in the second round alone.
- Angela Lee and Lauren May are matching Gilrowski's 9-over 153 as the pair are also tied for 25th following two rounds. Lee was more consistent with 23 pars to her credit and her lone birdie came on her final hole of the day as she went 77-76 in the first two rounds.
- May went 76-77 in her first two rounds and tallied five birdies and 22 pars on the day. She closed play with two birdies over the final five holes.
- Kaitlyn Lees is tied for 39th after two rounds of play, carding a 13-over 157 (79-78) that saw the graduate student tally her lone birdie on a par 5 on hole 9 in the first round.
- Competing as an individual, Esther Park is in just her second tournament of the year. She is tied for 56th with a 23-over 167 (88-79) recording one birdie and 11 pars in the second round of action.
