WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team got back in the win column on Tuesday with an 18-10 win over the George Mason Patriots in Fairfax, Virginia on Tuesday. The Hoyas were fueled by three home runs, one of which was a grand slam, from
Michael Eze.
ON THE RECORD
"It was another tough game on the road, and we have been on the road all year thus far. So, for our guys to come out here, and be down 6-5 in the seventh inning with two outs and score 11 runs is remarkable. It says a lot about our fight, our competitive spirit and who we are and want to be. That was a culmination of a lot of good at bats put together.
Michael Eze with the grand slam, obviously that was the one that kind of put us over the top but that was great to see.
Zaid Walker had an unbelievable day,
Travis Ilitch off the bench,
Jake Hyde and
Austin Kretzschmar with home runs early was great to see. Really proud of the offense but defensively we were not sound and that is something we need to be better at and fix. I thought
Collin Garner gave us a great start,
Garret Keough and
Cody Jensen got some big outs for us there and
Tyler Mead gave us what we needed to win the game. To win the game is our objective against a tough team on the road and we were able to do that. Excited for our home opener at Nats Academy tomorrow and looking forward to playing some more baseball." - Head Coach
Edwin Thompson
