Georgetown Women’s Golf Wins Lady Bison Invitational

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's golf team shot a 291 in the final round to win the Lady Bison Invitational on Tuesday following 54 holes over two days. The Hoyas shot 31-over par 895 (299-305-291) and were just three over in the final round, the best team round of the tournament hosted by Howard University. The two-day tournament was held on Baltimore Country Club's par-72, 6,127-yard East Course. The tournament win is the first for the Blue & Gray since the 2019 Hoya Invitational. Georgetown was tied for the lead in pars (154) and led the field with 35 birdies.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Junior Megan Gormley carded a 4-over 220 (74-72-74) and was 2-over in the final round to finish tied for second overall. Gormley tallied a pair of birdies on the day, totaling a squad-best nine for the tournament, which is tied for second-best among the field.
  • Senior Esther Park carded a 9-over 225 (75-79-71) and was 1-under for the final 18 holes, marking the best round of her spring season. She tallied a trio of birdies and added an eagle on 15 to tie for fifth overall.The 71 marks a personal best for Park. 
  • Gabriella Gilrowski tied for eighth at 12-over 228(76-79-73), saving her best golf for the final round at 1-over. The junior tallied a quartet of birdies, most on the day for the Hoyas, including back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16.
  • Kaitlyn Lees matched Gilrowski's three-round score at 12-over 228 (79-75-74) to tie for eighth place, also saving her best round for last. Lees closed the tournament with a birdie on three of her last six holes.
  • Lauren May finished 13th overall at 15-over 231 (74-84-73). The senior managed a trio of birdies, including one to end the day on hole 4.

The Lady Bison Invitational concluded the regular season and now the Hoyas will prepare for the 2023 BIG EAST Championships, held Monday-Wednesday, April 17-19 at Riverton Pointe in Hardeeville, South Carolina.
