WASHINGTON – Jane Hays joins the Georgetown University Volleyball program as an assistant coach, as announced by Head Coach AJ Bonetti on Monday. Hays comes to the Hilltop after spending the past four seasons on staff at Louisiana Tech, including as associate head coach in 2022.
With the Lady Techsters, Hays served as the lead recruiter for the program and led technical training for all serve receiving/passing, defensive concepts and team strategy. She was instrumental in mentoring McKenzie Johnson to Second Team All-Conference USA honors in 2021, LA Tech's first all-conference player since the 2017 campaign.
Prior to her time in Ruston, Hays spent six seasons as an assistant at Panola College in Texas from 2013-18. Working primarily with the outside hitters and defense, she helped guide the Fillies to a pair of National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national tournament appearances.
Hays began her collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at her alma mater East Texas Baptist in 2011-12.
A two-sport student-athlete at ETBU, Hays was a four-time All-American Southwest Conference East Division selection in volleyball from 2006-09 and played softball for the Tigers as well. Serving as a three-year captain, she is the only player in ETBU volleyball history to rank in the top 10 all-time in kills, digs and aces. Hays ranks fourth all-time in career kills and digs with 1,432 kills and 1,227 digs, and third all-time in aces with 141.
Originally from Hereford, Texas, Hays graduated from ETBU in 2010 with a B.S.E. in secondary education where she was a three-time All-ASC Academic selection, Distinguished Scholar Athlete selection and a nominee for the 2010 NCAA Woman of the Year award. She is currently pursuing her master's in organizational leadership at Western Kentucky.
