Gilrowski Finishes Runner-Up, Women’s Golf Takes Second at BIG EAST Championships

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – For the second-consecutive year, the Georgetown University women's golf team finished second at the BIG EAST Championships, presented by JEEP, with a three-round score of 44-over 908 (317-302-289). The third round saw the Hoyas post a 1-over 289, matching the program record for best BIG EAST team round set at the 2022 championships. Junior Gabriella Gilrowski took runner-up honors, the first Hoya to achieve the feat since 2018 after carding a three-round score of 5-over 221 (77-72-72) at the par-72, 6,170 yard course at the Riverton Pointe Golf and Country Club in Hardeeville, South Carolina.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gilrowski shot an even 72 in the final round, marking her second-straight par round. She opened the front nine with one birdie (hole 2) and eight pars and was able to secure five pars and a pair of birdies, including two of the last four and closing on a birdie on a par-5 18. Gilrowski managed eight birdies for the championship and tallied a tournament-best 36 pars.
  • Kaitlyn Lees finished tied for seventh after carding a 15-over 231 (79-77-75). She posted a quintet of birdies with three on the front nine and a pair on the back nine. She totaled nine birdies over the championship and tallied the lone eagle for the Blue & Gray on 8 in the second round of her final collegiate tournament.
  • Megan Gormley finished tied for ninth at 16-over 232 (83-79-70) and tallied the team's best score in the third round. Her 2-under 70 was fueled by five birdies. Gormley was the lone Hoya to birdie on hole 15 in each round. Over three rounds, she tallied nine birdies and in the final round, managed 10 pars.
  • Lauren May finished 12th at 19-over 235 (80-77-78). Her 6-over final round was fueled by six birdies, including on the final hole of her collegiate career, a par 5 on 18.
  • Esther Park shot an even 72 in the final round. She tallied five birdies, including back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15.
  • For the tournament, Georgetown surged to the front of the pack in birdies with 46 birdies with Xavier behind with 41.
