WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 in the BIG EAST standings with a 13-6 victory over visiting Providence on Saturday afternoon. The 10th-ranked Hoyas improve to 6-3 overall while the Friars fall to 5-6 and 1-1 in league action.

How it Happened
- Providence scored first just 19 seconds into the game, taking advantage of an empty Georgetown net on a 10-man ride. The Hoyas responded with back-to-back goals from Dordevic and Reilly which were answered in full by the Friars to lead 3-2. Georgetown scored three goals in the final 6:03 of the quarter, including Wray's goal with two second remaining in the frame, to take a 5-3 lead.
- In the second, the Hoyas outscored their guests 4-2 in the period to take a 9-4 lead going into halftime. Providence won a combined two faceoffs in the entire first half as GU led the ground ball battle 36-13.
- Coming out of the break, the Hoyas scored a pair of goals to lead 11-4 before Providence began to mount a comeback. The Friars scored four of the next five goals in the frame to make it a 12-8 Hoya lead going into the final 15 minutes of action.
- In the fourth, Crogan's second goal at the 11:31 mark put the Hoyas up 13-8 but PC rallied for three goals in a 66 second span to pull with two, down 13-11 with 4:46 to play. Georgetown's defense held the Friars at bay the rest of the way en route to victory.
Providence Notes
- Michael Chabra and Jack Horrigan both had four goals for the Friars while Ryan Bell posted two goals to go with five assists.
- Gregg Dennison had two caused turnovers and four ground balls.
- In goal, James Corasaniti collected 23 saves in the loss.
Hoya Notes
- Georgetown's 63 ground balls are the most by any NCAA Division I team this season and the Hoyas are the only program to collect at least 60 ground balls against a Division I opponent.
- The Hoyas have now won six-straight following an 0-3 start to the season.
- Reilly's 15 ground balls are tied for the third most in a game in program history.
- Bowen moves into sole possession of third all-time in career caused turnovers in just his 26th game as a Hoya, passing Alex Mazzone ('22) with 54.
