MILWAUKEE – Georgetown University's top-seeded men's lacrosse team won its fifth consecutive BIG EAST Championship with a 14-5 victory over second seed Denver on Saturday afternoon. The eighth-ranked Hoyas set a league record for goals and points in a BIG EAST tournament with 56 in two games over the weekend.
Hoya Highlights
- Defensively, Will Bowen was credited with two caused turnovers and collected two ground balls. Wallace Halpert had four ground balls while Will Tominovich added three.
- Georgetown's defense held Denver to just 17 shots on goal and didn't allow a Pioneer goal for the first 26:32 of the game.
- In goal, Danny Hincks (6-3) collected 12 saves in the win.
How it Happened
- Georgetown blanked Denver (10-5) in the opening quarter and used a Solomon hat trick to lead 3-0 after 15 minutes of play.
- The Hoyas kept the ball rolling in the second, scoring four-straight goals before the Pioneers finally got on the scoreboard with 3:38 to play in the half to make it 7-1. Goals from Dordevic and Kelly in the final 80 seconds of the stanza gave GU a 9-1 lead going into halftime.
- Coming out of the break, Denver scored on a man-up goal to make it 9-2 but three Georgetown goals in a two-minute span lifted the Hoyas back up by 10 at 12-2 before DU added one more to make it 12-3 after three quarters.
- In the fourth, two Dordevic goals put the icing on the cake to lead 14-3 before Denver managed another two for a 14-5 final.
Denver Notes
- JJ Sillstrop led the Pios with two goals. He was the only Denver player with more than one point.
- Alec Stathakis won 14 of 21 (.667) faceoffs and collected a game-high nine ground balls.
- In goal, Malcolm Kleban and Jack Thompson combined for eight saves in the loss.

- Dordevic was named the BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Player, while Bowen, Hincks and Solomon each earned All-Tournament Team honors.
- McDermott moves into a tie for 18th place all-time at Georgetown in career scoring, matching Mike Hammer ('03) and Joe Callahan ('94) with 130 points.
- Dordevic moves into a tie with Bundy in 2022 and Greg McCavera ('99) in 1998 for the fifth-most points in a single season with 70.
- Georgetown has now won 12-straight following an 0-3 start to the season, setting a school record for consecutive victories.
