Georgetown Adds Alex Cowan to 2023-24 Roster

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team has announced the addition of graduate transfer Alex Cowan to its 2023-24 roster. The Bowie, Maryland native comes to the Hilltop from Wagner College where she played for four seasons for the Seahawks and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in marketing in May. She will be starting the integrated marketing communications program in Georgetown's School of Continuing Studies.

  • Named Second Team All-NEC in 2022-23 and finished the season with eight NEC Prime Performer honors while ending the regular season with Prime Performer distinction in the final four weeks of the regular season.
  • Averaged 14.0 ppg to lead Wagner and rank fifth in the NEC, while also managing 4.1 rpg and 1.9 apg
  • Cowan also notched 20 or more points on six separate occasions this season
  • Averaged 9.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg, and 2.1 apg as a junior to rank third on the team in scoring
  • Missed the entire 2020-21 season due to injury
  • As a freshman, appeared in 29 games while making 25 starts averaging 8.4 ppg, 3.0 rpg and 2.7 apg
  • Played at St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C., and scored close to 700 points over three seasons
  • Named to both the 2018 and 2019 Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) Honorable Mention teams as well as garnering 2018 and 2019 DC State Athletics honorable mention awards
  • Guided the Cadets to three WCAC championships as well as three DC state titles
  • Brother Anthony was a standout at Maryland
