WASHINGTON—Georgetown University's volleyball team has started their season off with a victory, defeating Howard 3-1 (25-22, 25-17, 25-27, 25-19). The Hoyas win their first game under coach
AJ Bonetti and start the D.C. Challenge tournament off with a win.
"I think the girls played really well," said head coach
AJ Bonetti. "They played with effort, energy, and execution when needed. They worked hard this preseason, they earned it. I'm excited for them, and I'm excited to see what we can do this year."
Hoya Highlights:
- Peyton Wilhite led all players with 20 digs to go along with eight kills and nine block assists
- Freshman Emily Wen impressed in her debut, tallying a team high 37 assists
- Mary Grace Goyena was an offensive force, totaling a team-high 15 kills. Giselle Williams added 14 as well.
- Karis Park took the libero position, finishing with 12 digs and a service ace
Howard Notes:
- Dami Ayojobi lead all players with a game-high 22 kills and 22 points
- Kayla Diaz finished with a game-high 48 assists

Georgetown will travel to George Mason on Saturday to take on the Patriots at 7:00 pm as part of D.C. Challenge.
