Hoyas Sweep Patriots, Move to 2-0

WASHINGTON— Georgetown University's women's volleyball team is off to a 2-0 start after defeating George Mason (0-2) in three sets (25-15, 25-19, 25-23). The Hoyas will face the only other remaining undefeated team in the D.C. Challenge, American University, on Sunday.
"I'm really pleased with the overall team performance tonight," said Head Coach A.J. Bonetti. "They once again showed resilience in the face of adversity. I'm really happy for each of them, I hope they get to enjoy this one."
 
Hoya Highlights:
  • For the second straight night Mary Grace Goyena totaled double digit kills, finishing with 11 against George Mason
  • Freshman Grace Albaugh took the court for the Hoyas for the first time, scoring six kills and two aces
  • Peyton Wilhite had another strong all-around performance, scoring eight kills, four block assists, and 11 digs
  • This is the first time the Hoyas have started their season with back-to-back wins since 2019
George Mason Notes:
  • Camille Simpson set a career-high in aces with five on the night
  • Nani Spaar led the offense scoring 11 points on 30 attacks
Up Next for the Hoyas:
In search of an undefeated D.C. Challenge run, Georgetown will travel to American University on Sunday to take on the Eagles at 2 p.m.
