Hoyas Fall to Columbia In Lou Little Trophy Game

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team (2-2) fell on the road 30-0 to Columbia on Saturday afternoon.

ON THE RECORD
"It was obviously not the result that we wanted. It was a tough day from the start. We had a hard time getting on track offensively and had a difficult time stopping the run. I want to give Columbia a lot of credit and congrats to coach Fabish on his first career win. There are a ton of things that we are going to learn from this. We are going to regroup when we get back to D.C. and start preparing for a great homecoming weekend game with Fordham coming to the Hilltop." - Head Coach Rob Sgarlata on today's contest against Columbia.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
  • Cam Pygatt caught all four passes for 51 yards while Naieem Kearney led the Hoya running game with six rushes for 28 yards.
  • Nicholas Dunnenman made five catches for 43 yards and returned two punts for 16 yards while Tiy Reed made three kick returns for 35 yards.
  •  Defensively, the Hoyas totaled three tackles for loss, three broken up passes and two hits on the quarterback. Zeraun Daniel led the Blue & Gray with 10 tackles.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Lions got on the board first with an 11-yard rushing touchdown from Caden Bell at the 8:10 mark. After a defensive penalty on the Hoyas during the extra point attempt, the Lions went for a two-point conversion but was stopped by the Blue & Gray.
  • In the opening drive of the second quarter, the Lions earned a 2-yard rushing touchdown followed by the extra point to make the score 13-0.
  • In the final minute of the second, the Lions made a good field goal to extend its lead 16-0 at halftime.
  • Columbia went up 30-0 in the third quarter with two touchdowns.
  • Both teams were held scoreless in the fourth quarter giving Columbia the 30–0 win.
