Georgetown Finishes Third at Macdonald Cup

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's golf team wrapped up play at the two-day Macdonald Cup, finishing in third place with a 54-hole score of 870. Only the top four scores for each round were counted towards the team score in the event. The Hoyas carded rounds of 297, 291 and 282 at the par-70, 6,795-yard course at the Yale Golf Course.

"The Yale Golf Course is a challenging test of golf and when mother nature is in a bad mood, like this weekend, it's even tougher. Proud of the guys to battle through and get a top three finish. Conner and Max had great final day rounds for us."
 
Hoya Results
  • Conner Willett was on fire during the final round of the event netting five birdies in his final round. Willet finished tied for third, recording rounds of 73, 73 and 68.
  • This was Willett's best finish of the season after finishing 22nd at the Doc Gimmler Intercollegiate.
  • Jacob Finard finished tied for 28th and carded rounds of 75, 74 and 75.
  • Carsten Judge turned in cards of 77, 72 and 70 finishing tied for 15th.
  • Max Hutter was able to secure a tie for 15th finish with rounds of 78, 72 and 69.
  • Freshman Barnes Blake finished tied for 28th with rounds of 72, 77 and 75.
 
Tournament Leaders
  • Yale won the event after carding rounds of 286, 286 and 284.
  • Seton Hall came in second with a team score of 861 and Georgetown finished third with a team score of 870.
 
UP NEXT
The Blue & Gray will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday, October 1-2 at the Hamptons Intercollegiate hosted by Loyola Maryland. The event will take place at Maidstone Club in East Hampton, New York.
