No. 12/9 Georgetown Hosts Butler on Friday

WASHINGTON – The No. 12/9 Georgetown University men's soccer team will welcome the Butler University Bulldogs to Shaw Field on Friday afternoon in a BIG EAST Conference matchup. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by Invesco QQQ on FloSports with Georgetown men's soccer alums Dan Helfrich and Tom Greaser back in the broadcast booth for their 19th season.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is sitting at 5-1-1 overall and 2-0 in league play after coming off of a 3-1 victory at Xavier on Saturday evening. Earlier in the week, the Hoyas managed a 2-0 shutout over then-No. 9 James Madison University at Shaw Field.
  • On Monday, sophomore forward Jacob Murrell was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, while junior defender Kieran Sargeant earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
  • Murrell tied for the BIG EAST lead with five points last week, tallying a goal in the win over the Dukes, before registering a goal and an assist against the Musketeers.
  • In the conference win over the Musketeers, Sargeant dished out an assist after helping the backline to the shutout over the Dukes.
  • Other notable performances included a pair of goals from sophomore Zach Zengue in the win at Butler.
  • Georgetown is led by Murrell with six goals and two assists for 14 points on the season. Senior Kyle Linhares has three goals and two assists for the year with eight points to his credit. Zengue is in third with six points after scoring three goals this season.
  • In goal, Ryan Schewe has played a majority of the minutes with nine saves and a 1.40 goals-against average for the year. His first shutout came in the Seton Hall win. Tenzing Manske has appeared in two games and has four saves to go along with a 2.50 goals-against average and one shutout.
About the Bulldogs
  • Butler (1-5-1, 1-1-0 BIG EAST) is coming off a 2-0 loss to No. 23 Marquette.
  • The lone win for the Bulldogs this season was a 2-1 victory over Villanova to open BIG EAST Conference play.
  • With an average of 6.29 saves per match, Caleb Norris leads the BIG EAST and is second nationally, he also has a save percentage of .815.
  • Palmer Ault leads the team on offense with four goals for eight points on the season.
