WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's women's volleyball program (11-4, 2-1) defeated Butler University (6-8, 0-3) at home. The Hoyas are now 2-1 in a highly competitive BIG EAST while Butler moves to 0-3.
ON THE RECORD
"I'm very proud of the way they came back after that set three loss," said Head Coach
AJ Bonetti. "Butler is a great team that play with a lot of intensity. Proud is an understatement to describe how I feel about how the team came back and took care of set four after a really good battle with a great team."

Mary Grace Goyena. "I think it's really cool to see what we can do at home against a really good BIG EAST team. We played with a lot of energy, effort, and executed our gameplan. That's all you can ask for."
Hoya Highlights:
- The Hoyas managed to dig out even the best Butler attacks, gaining 16 from libero Karis Park, 14 from Emily Wen, and 12 from Peyton Wilhite as they outdug their opponents 55-52.
- A balanced offense led the Hoya attack in their home win. Wilhite and Mary Grace Goyena tallied 14 kills apiece while Kamryn Lee-Caracci had ten.
- Freshman middle blocker Lee-Caracci continues to have a stellar first season in the Blue & Gray, adding five blocks to go with her ten kills. Two of the blocks were solo.
- Georgetown continues to succeed with a pinpoint attack, outhitting Butler .323 to .263.
Butler Notes:
- Outside hitter Abby Maesch continued to be a stud on offense for Butler, tallying 18 kills on a .297 hitting percentage. Mariah Grunze also added 15 kills.
- Cora Taylor had a game-high 16 assists.
- Junior Grace Boggess had eight kills and five blocks.
