WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team hits the road for a BIG EAST matchup in Rhode Island to face the Providence College Friars on Saturday, January 27. Tipoff at Amica Mutual Pavilion is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on FOX. The Hoyas are coming off a loss to Butler on Tuesday at Capital One Arena and enter Saturday's contest at 8-11 on the season with a 1-7 mark in BIG EAST action. Ed Cooley's, in his first season on the Hilltop, return to Providence, where he was the head coach for the previous 12 seasons.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
- Georgetown is coming off a 90-66 loss to Butler on Tuesday at Capital One Arena. Jayden Epps led a trio of Hoyas in double figures with 16 points, followed by Supreme Cook (12) and Dontrez Styles (11). Cook tallied his fifth double-double of the year as he grabbed a game-best 12 rebounds while Epps' three assists paced the offense.
- Epps tops the BIG EAST in scoring averaging 18.8 ppg, as he leads a trio of Hoyas averaging double digits. Styles contributes 13.4 ppg while Cook pitches in 11.2 ppg.
- Cook is second in the league in rebounding, pulling down 8.4 rpg. His 4.1 offensive boards per game is good enough for second in the BIG EAST. Cook is efficient on the offensive end, knocking down 63.3% (76-120) of his shots.
- Epps dishes out 4.4 apg, ranking eighth in the BE, while his 2.4 3-pointers made per game is fifth in the league.
- The Hoyas are led by Ed Cooley who is in his 18th season as a collegiate head coach and his first season with Georgetown. In 2022, Cooley was the recipient of the Naismith Coach of the Year Award, named the Sporting News Coach of the Year, the BIG EAST Coach of the Year, the NABC District 5 Coach of the Year and the USBWA District 1 Coach of the Year.
ABOUT THE FRIARS
- Providence enters Saturday's matchup at 13-6 on the season with an even 4-4 mark in BIG EAST play after a come-from-behind road win on Wednesday that saw the Friars defeat Seton Hall 67-63 at Prudential Center. A quartet of Friars tallied double figures with Davonte Gaines leading the way with 17 points on 6-for-8 shooting, followed by Josh Oduro (16), Devin Carter (14) and Jayden Pierre (11). Oduro grabbed a squad-best eight rebounds while Carter paced the offense with six helpers.
- Carter leads a trio of Friars in double figures, averaging 18.0 ppg, good enough for second in the BIG EAST. Bryce Hopkins, sidelined for the remainder of the season with an injury, averaged 15.5 ppg before he got hurt, while Oduro adds 14.4 ppg.
- Hopkins was pulling down a squad-best 8.6 rpg before he was sidelined with Carter shortly behind grabbing 8.2 rpg, good enough for third in the league.
- Carter dishes out 3.4 apg to lead the squad and his 1.6 spg is good enough for sixth in the conference.
- The Friars are led by Head Coach Kim English, in his first season at Providence. He spent the previous two seasons as the head coach at George Mason before taking over at PC.
ABOUT THE SERIES WITH PROVIDENCE
- Saturday's matchup will be the 82nd all-time between the two programs, dating back to a 1956 contest. The Hoyas hold the 47-34 advantage on Saturday's home squad but have lost the previous four outings. The last win at the AMP was on February 6, 2019 when a quintet of Hoyas reached double digits en route to the 76-67 road win.
- In his first season as the head coach at Fairfield, Cooley faced Providence, falling 67-50. It is the only other time he has faced the Friars. Saturday's matchup will be the first meeting between Cooley and PC Coach English.
